Advocate, member of the Warsaw Bar Association. Vice-Chairwoman of the Human Rights Commission at the Polish Bar Council. Member of the Polish Society of Anti-discmination Law.

In 2012-2018, a lawyer in the Commissioner for Human Rights’ (Ombudsman’s) Office, where she handled complaints on discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity; from 2015, Head of the Antidiscrimination Law Division, she represented the Commissioner before the national courts in precedent cases related to human rights of LGBT people.

So far, Anna Mazurczak:

  • represented the organizer of the Equality March in Lublin in a case which ended with the repeal of the decision to ban the March [more];
  • represented the Commissioner for Human Rights before the Administrative Supreme Court in a case which ended with a precedent decision enabling two mothers to be indicated as parents in the Polish birth certificate [more in EN];
  • represented the Commissioner for Human Rights in a case concerning issuing a birth certificate for a child born by a transgender men [more].

For many years she has been cooperating closely with civil society organizations – currently she is a board member of the Polish Society of Antidiscrimination Law and a member of the Love Does Not Exclude Association. In 2015-2018 she was a member of the Equality Law Working Group in Equinet (European Network of Equality Bodies).

She conducts workshops on anti-discrimination law and human rights, she is certified human rights trainer of the HELP programme of the Council of Europe (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals). She conducted lectures on anti-discrimination law at the law faculty of University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS) in Warsaw, Leon Kozminski Academy and Collegium Civitas. She’s providing training to advocates and advocate trainees at the Bar Association in Warsaw, as well.

She is fluent in English and French.

The author of several publications on equal treatment, including legal protection of LGBT persons, among others:

Handbook for Legal Practitioners in Hate Crime Proceedings

Equal treatment in employment on the basis of gender identity

Equal treatment of patients – non-heterosexual persons in healthcare

Awarded the title of Female Advocate of the Year by the Polish Bar Council.
